Anyway, I've been knitting.
This is the Catalina Beach Sweater, and I am so in love with it.
I apparently have a thing for chevrons because that's all I've been knitting lately. This is clearly no exception.
I designed it at the end of July, and I probably unconsciously made it a sweater so I could still wear it for fall. Although, seriously, it's 95 degrees today - it has been for awhile, and I feel like I'm going to die.
But I managed to make it to the beach anyway!
Designed to be worn on those cooler, summer nights, the Catalina is knit with cotton yarn and designed with lace eyelets and chevron.
It’s oversized, with enough ease for you to slip it on easily over your swimsuit – or your button down.
The shoulders are dropped, giving it a casual vibe, and the sleeves stop at the elbows – perfectly cool for all seasons.
You don’t have to retire it at the end of the season. It’s perfect for layering in the spring or fall, over a t-shirt or a button down, and it’s perfect for school or work.
And even though it's 95 degrees, I dressed up like it's fall and modeled it, just for you. I hope you love it.

EEek! It's lovely! And must be a really quick knit too, which is great! Summer is sadly over here in Norway, so it is perfect for fall. Love the color you chose, very striking (without being screaming :) I'd love to get a copy of this pattern :)
ReplyDeleteThank you!! Yes, I think it's fairly quick to knit - I made one and then had to start over because my gauge was off and it was 14" too big! :D
DeleteWhat a cute sweater for fall! I generally don't see the beach when it's cool enough for a coverup, but I could see myself in this very easily at work like you've got it styled.
ReplyDeleteThank you! Yeah, I hardly ever see the beach, but when I do it always seems to be windy or a touch chilly when the sun goes down. (Thanks a lot, NY)
DeleteThis is so pretty! I can see how it's such a great transition piece. I'm so behind on my knitting, but I'm going to add this one to my (long) to-knit list. Thanks for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteJust curious, how do you find knitting with 100% cotton yarn? I took a knitting class a little while ago, and my instructor discouraged using cotton when it's not blended with wool, because on its own it has no stretch and is hard on your hands. I have problems with tendonitis already, so I've stayed away from it, but I'm interested to see what other knitters think.
Thank you so much!
DeleteSo I have always stayed away from cotton because of what you mentioned. Someone gave me a bunch of cotton yarn from Wool and the Gang - otherwise I probably would never have made this and some of my other recent projects. I'm not sure if it's higher quality or what the deal is, but Wool and the Gang has the softest, squishiest, most wonderful cotton yarn. I already want to order more for next year! It's also pretty stretchy; I really love it.
Hmm, might have to try to find some! I love the idea of cotton for summer sweaters.
DeleteLove the pattern work and the colour! Great job!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful sweater and the color is very pretty and looks great on you! Today would have been perfect to wear such sweater. I would like a copy of this pattern!
ReplyDeleteI love it, stunning. Great colour. I would love to knit it, although we are not really having a summer in the uk!
